P&G is one of the largest and amongst the fastest growing consumer goods companies in India. Established in 1964, P&G India now serves over 650 million consumers across India. Its presence pans across the Beauty & Grooming segment, the Household Care segment as well as the Health & Well Being segment, with trusted brands that are household names across India.

The Requirement

Working of the success of the Gillette Flex Ball VR Roller Coaster Ride, P&G wanted to develop another Virtual Reality (VR) experience that would help generate awareness and interest for the Head & Shoulders brand. This VR experience had to highlight the brand and its message “Kandhe Se Bojh Hata De!”

An important factor for creating the VR experience was that it had to be a wireless solution so guests were not inconvenienced by any cables or wires.

Head & Shoulders Dandruff Buster - The Oculus Go Based Virtual Reality Game

The GoPhygital team came up with a fun and immersive solution and that met all the requirements of the client, a VR Shooter Game.

Your mission, you are in a nightmare situation where your scalp has been invaded by dandruff critters and it is up to you to shoot as many dandruff critters as possible using your trusty Head & Shoulders ZPTO gun, to make your scalp 100% dandruff free.

To drive local competition among employees in the same corporate office, the player with the highest score had his/her score displayed on the gameplay screen for other player to see and possibly beat. Players were also awarded in-game medals (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) for which they received certain rewards from P&G.

The Oculus Go VR solution was showcased as a part of P&G’s FutureX Program which aims at disrupting a traditional category with cutting edge technology. To date, the Oculus Go VR game has 700+ minutes of dedicated brand engagement with the target audience.

The Value Take-away

P&G effectively conveyed their brand message and established themselves as a thought leader in their domain by partnering with GoPhygital to develop immersive VR experiences for their target audiences.
